Is it me, or am I noticing more students with health concerns from elementary to high school going on to college. I’m noticing mental health cases, substance abuse counseling, as well as an overall medical care. Our children have so much to deal with these days, but recently I just overheard about our 13 million obese seniors. What if we had a Health counselor? A person/doctor at the school site that would help with Medicare benefits, weight loss counseling free, yet mandatory for students. I admire all who are helping the cause but we need much more to make a dent in our students’ health. I know the problem is bigger than school support, but anything is a step in the right direction.
